MANJUSHREE
Manjushree embodies the wisdom aspect of an enlightened mind. He holds a flaming sword in his right hand that cuts off the roots of delusion, which is the cause of suffering, of ignorance, and of self-grasping. Manjushree holds the scripture Perfection of Wisdom in his left hand. As the God of Divine Wisdom, worship of Manjushree confers mastery of the Dharma, retentive memory, mental perfection, and eloquence. Manjushree is also a Bodhisattva. In Nepal, he is considered the founder of Nepalese civilization and the creator of the Kathmandu Valley. According to one tradition, Manjushree was a Chinese Saint. His intuition told him of the existence of a blue flame (symbolizing the Adi Buddha or Swayambhu) on a lotus in a big lake in Nepal. He went there to offer his worship, but could not reach the lotus because of the water. Manjushree used his sword to cut a slash in the southern hills, so the water of the lake drained to the south. The once dry valley became the Kathmandu Valley. Manjushree carries the sword of wisdom and light in his right hand and the Prajnaparmita manuscript, the Book of Divine Wisdom, in his left hand; he sits on a lotus blossom. His left hand will be in the teaching gesture or Jnan mudra. He is also called Manjunghose, Manju Bara, Vajranga and Vagisvara. People believe that the worship of Manjushree can confer upon them wisdom, a good memory, and intelligence.

マンジュシュリ
マンジュシュリは悟りの知恵を体現している。彼は右手に苦しみや無知や金に汚いことなどの錯覚の根源を切り離す炎の剣を持つ。左手には“完全な知恵”の本を持つ。知恵の神としてマンジュシュリを拝むことはダルマの精通、優れた記憶力、精神面の完璧さ、雄弁を授かる。マンジュシュリは又、ボディサットヴァである。ネパールでは、彼はネパール文明の創始者、カトマンズ渓谷の創造者として知られる。伝承によると、マンジュシュリは中国の聖人という説もある。彼の直感は青い炎（アディブッダもしくはスワヤンブーの象徴）の存在がネパールの大きな湖の蓮の上にあると知らせる。彼は礼拝をするためそこへ行ったが水がいっぱいで蓮までたどりつかなかった。それで彼の剣で南側の丘を切り、水を南側に流した。このようにしてカトマンズ渓谷が出来た。マンジュシュリは知恵の剣を持ち、光を右手に、知恵の本を左手に持って蓮の花の上にすわる。彼の左手は教える仕草、もしくはJnan Mudraになっている。彼はまた、Manjunghose,Manju Bara,Vajranga,Vagisvaraとも呼ばれる。人々は、マンジュシュリを拝むことは知恵、優れた記憶力、知性を授かると信じている。
